Country: New Zealand
Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris
A unique and interesting wine on the New Zealand wine scene today.
A Non-Vintage blend from this gifted site in Marlborough. One-barrel of 2012 Pinot Gris/Blanc, two-barrels of 2016 Pinot Gris and three-barrels of 2017 Pinot Blanc, with a ‘Little Touch of Riesling (LTR) to lift.
All handpicked fruit, wild barrel ferments, bottled un-filtered. Fermented and captured by/with the culture of three winemakers. Hopefully allowing the expression of the site and Vineyard to come through and reveal further elements of its nature.
Aromas of honeyed bees wax, poached pear, dried fruits, spice and sweet meadow hay. This is a rich, full and complex wine supported by crisp acidity, phenolic weight and freshness. Dry on the pallet with a nice acid tail to finish. Loads of texture and personality.
Colere (Latin for 'to cultivate and worship the land and spirit within') is that of an ethical one, an advocate for artisans, celebrating organic/biodynamic vignerons throughout NZ. Colerewines seek out small unique parcels of interesting wines from these divergent minds who continue to develop their creativity in the winery and cultivate humility in the vineyard.
